Quartz, Smoky Alligator

Alligator Quartz is a skeletal quartz usually occurring from a smoky to a clear quartz. It is often called an Elsetial or “Jacare” (Portuguese for “alligator”) because it resembles the skin of an alligator. It formed in a multitude of pyramid/triangle shapes which can look like stair steps layered on top of each other. These formations are believed to have developed because of several heating and cooling processes during crystal formation.
